Nuqta Exhibition\Follower
The Nuqta exhibition was selected to be displayed at the Anderson Gallery in Richmond in 2021. Originally presented in 2019, the exhibition was the result of an elective class called Future Realities. My team and I explored our interpretations of the future by creating a comprehensive world that considered various aspects, including fashion, food, lifestyle, and more.
(Created 2019- exhibited again in 2021)
FOLLOWER
A decade from now, cloning has become the latest trend. People will have the option to own clone "slaves" through a customizable package that offers multiple choices. All they need to do is visit the company’s website and place an order. Deliveries are made worldwide within 3 to 5 working days, with prices ranging from $10,000 to $60,000, depending on the selected customizations. Some essential features included in the package are sensibility, age (ranging from 18 to 40 years), language, and identity. Clones will be dressed in skin-tone clothing and fed dog food, marking the arrival of a new era in cloning.
This exhibition challenges us to consider how far people are willing to go for their own convenience and to rethink whether all technologies are beneficial. When do we draw the line between what is acceptable and what is not?
The Master
The master is the individual in charge, responsible for making the rules and is the original person. Masters live a normal life, but what distinguishes them from clones is their clothing. They wear intimidating attire that conveys power and strength.
The Clone
The clone, on the other hand, is a replica of their master. Clones consume processed food and are treated like pets. Their primary role is to clean and maintain the household. Each clone has a unique code on their face for identification and to signify their master. They typically have white hair and wear baggy clothing to indicate their lower status.
